"Alzheimer's Awareness"

About Me

Liz and Mom after Miss MN

My name is Liz Wandersee and I am 21 years old. I am competing again, this time for Miss Moorhead! I am currently a senior at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities and will be graduating this fall.

I grew up in the small town of Waseca, MN in southern MN. I was very involved in band and cheerleading all four years of high school. Now in college I have done one year of cheerleading, volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, and volunteered with Rosewood Assisted Living.

One of my favorite appearances I have done to support my platform was supporting the Alzheimer's Association at the Minnesota House of Representatives on Feburary 6th. I was lucky enough to be able to represent the more than 90,000 Minnesotans
affected by Alzheimer's disease for the legislative hearing on dementia
issues.

Another favorite appearance has been the Mankato and Metro Memory Walks. The Alzheimer's Association Memory Walk is the nation's largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer care, support and research. It calls on volunteers of all ages to fight against Alzheimer's. There are more than 600 communities that have a Memory Walk each year. A typical Memory Walk is a 2-3 mile walk held on a weekend morning in the fall. They have been a great experience and I was one of the top fundraisers for these events. I cannot wait to go out again!
